In 1988, Dutch born Welling moved to Austria and worked for the German metal trade enterprise TUBUS in Munich until 1989. From 1990 to 1994, he was responsible for setting up branches and coordinating sales in Austria for the IMCO group. His first steps in the solar industry were as area manager for Alumax Extrusions B.V. Austria, Bavaria, Switzerland and Northern Italy. Alumax Extrusions B.V. was a leader in the production of aluminium profiles for the solar sector, as it identified very early on the potential of this niche market.

In 1996 Robin M. Welling got in touch with the Austrian solar pioneer Peter Prasser and was consequently appointed sales manager for Sonnenkraft Austria, Sonnenkraft Germany, and GREENoneTEC Austria. As from 1997, Welling became responsible for sales and foreign branches opening in Italy. In 2002 he joined the Sonnenkraft Italia SRL management team and was also in charge of establishing sales networks for Sonnenkraft Solarsystems GmbH in Spain, Portugal and France. From 2002 until the end of 2005, he was involved in General Solar Systems Austria and, therefore, played a significant part in creating the enterprise.

Since 10.01.2006 Robin M. Welling holds the positions of shareholder of TSW Holding GmbH and TSW Holding Corp., managing director of TiSUN GmbH and TiSUN LLC. In 2007 and in 2008 Robin Welling was a member of the board of directors of ESTIF (European Solar Thermal Industry Federation). On 3 December 2010 Robin M. Welling was elected ESTIF President.

Over the past two decades, TiSUN has been developing, producing and distributing high-quality solar collectors and stratified tanks, which withstand extreme climatic conditions. TiSUN has achieved remarkable growth rates over many years thanks to innovative cutting edge technology, superior quality and an outstanding distribution and service network. TiSUN exports approximately 85% of its production – a growing trend. TiSUN and its partners aim to make the heat supply and backup heating independent from fossil energy resources.

In 2009 Robin M. Welling launched the “LochinvarTiSUN Cooperation” on Commercial Solar Thermal Systems for the US and Canadian market. In 2011 TiSUN made strong investments and launched businesses in the Middle East and India. His professional specialisations are in sales, technical services, customer competence center and logistics.
